  • your name;
  • email address;
  • telephone number;
  • mailing or shipping address;
  • billing information;
  • order information;
  • newsletter subscription information;
  • information associated with Contributions or other voluntary payments;
  • correspondence with us;
  • customer-service requests;
  • information submitted through forms;
  • tipline submissions;
  • files, photographs, documents, audio, video, or other materials that you submit; and
  • any other information you voluntarily provide.

Newsletter Subscriptions

If you subscribe to our newsletter or other email communications, we may collect information such as:
  • your email address;
  • your name, if you choose to provide it;
  • your subscription preferences;
  • the date and time of your subscription;
  • unsubscribe or suppression information; and
  • technical information maintained by our email service provider in connection with the subscription.
We use this information to send communications you requested and to administer our mailing lists.
Newsletter communications may include Company news, new content, announcements, requests for support, merchandise information, events, and similar information.
You may unsubscribe from newsletter or promotional communications at any time by using the unsubscribe mechanism provided in those communications.
We may retain limited information concerning an unsubscribe request where reasonably necessary to ensure that the email address is not inadvertently added back to a marketing mailing list.

Contributions and Donations

If you make a voluntary Contribution through the Site, we and our payment providers may collect information such as:
  • your name;
  • email address;
  • billing address;
  • Contribution amount;
  • transaction date;
  • transaction identifier;
  • payment method information; and
  • other information reasonably necessary to process the transaction.
Complete payment-card information may be collected and processed directly by a third-party payment processor rather than by the Company.
We may use Contribution information to:
  • process the transaction;
  • provide receipts or confirmations;
  • respond to questions regarding the transaction;
  • detect fraudulent or unauthorized activity;
  • maintain financial, accounting, and tax records;
  • comply with legal obligations; and
  • communicate with contributors where permitted by law.
Unless separately stated, making a Contribution does not automatically subscribe you to the Company’s newsletter or promotional email list.

Purchases

If you purchase merchandise, we and our service providers may collect information necessary to process and fulfill your purchase, including:
  • your name;
  • billing and shipping address;
  • email address;
  • telephone number;
  • products ordered;
  • transaction amount;
  • transaction identifiers; and
  • payment-related information.
Complete payment-card information may be collected directly by our payment processor rather than by the Company.

Tipline Information

If you use our tipline or another submission method, we may collect:
  • the content of your submission;
  • any contact information you choose to provide;
  • documents, photographs, recordings, or other files you submit;
  • information concerning persons, companies, organizations, or events described in the submission; and
  • technical information associated with the submission.
You are not required to provide your name unless a particular form expressly requires it.
However, not providing your name does not necessarily make a submission technically anonymous.
Depending on the method you use and the operation of our hosting, email, security, or other service providers, a submission may generate information such as an IP address, timestamp, email metadata, browser information, device information, or server logs.
Do not submit highly sensitive information unless it is reasonably necessary for the purpose of your communication.

Information Collected Automatically

Like most websites, the Site and the service providers that support it may automatically generate certain technical records when the Site is accessed.
These may include:
  • IP address;
  • browser type;
  • device type;
  • operating system;
  • referring webpage;
  • pages requested;
  • date and time of access;
  • security-related records; and
  • server or application logs.
This information may be generated as part of ordinary website hosting, security, fraud prevention, or technical operations even if the Company does not use a dedicated website analytics service.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Site may use cookies or similar technologies where necessary to operate Site features, maintain a shopping cart, process transactions, remember preferences, prevent fraud, maintain security, or provide integrations with third-party services.
Third-party services integrated into the Site may nevertheless use cookies or collect technical information according to their own privacy policies.
If the Company later implements analytics, behavioral advertising, or other tracking technologies that materially change its privacy practices, this Privacy Policy will be updated and additional notices or privacy choices will be provided where required by law.

Newsletter and Marketing Choices

You may unsubscribe from newsletters and promotional email communications at any time through the unsubscribe link or other mechanism included in those communications.
You may also contact us at info@theasservoproject.com to request removal from promotional mailing lists.
We may retain your email address on a suppression list after you unsubscribe where reasonably necessary to honor your request.
Unsubscribing from promotional messages does not necessarily prevent us from sending non-promotional communications concerning an existing transaction, responding to communications you initiate, providing legally required notices, or addressing security or administrative matters.
We do not sell newsletter subscriber lists to third parties for their independent marketing purposes.

Data Retention

Different categories of information may be retained for different periods.
Tipline or investigative information may be retained longer where reasonably necessary for research, verification, reporting, legal, archival, security, or evidentiary purposes.
We may delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably necessary.

Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards that we consider appropriate for the nature of the information we maintain.
However, no website, communication system, storage system, or method of Internet transmission is completely secure.
We therefore cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we determine that personal information has been affected by a security incident requiring notification under applicable law, we will provide legally required notifications.

Your Privacy Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live and whether a particular privacy law applies to the Company, you may have rights concerning your personal information.
These rights may include the ability to request: confirmation that we process your personal information; access to certain personal information; correction of inaccurate information; deletion of certain information; a portable copy of certain information; information concerning categories of information collected or disclosed; an opt-out from certain sales, sharing, or targeted advertising; or an appeal from certain decisions concerning a privacy request.

Please include enough information for us to understand and reasonably verify your request.
We may request additional information where reasonably necessary to verify your identity or authority to make the request.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
Where applicable law permits an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, we may request appropriate verification of that authority.

Browser Privacy Signals

Some browsers provide “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) settings. Because there is no universally accepted standard governing DNT signals, the Site may not respond to DNT signals.
If the Company becomes subject to a law requiring recognition of a particular browser-based opt-out signal, such as a legally recognized universal opt-out mechanism, we will respond to that signal as required by applicable law.

Children

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 in circumstances subject to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 in circumstances in which collection was not permitted, we will take appropriate steps to delete or otherwise handle the information in accordance with applicable law.

Those parties may collect information independently from us.
Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we encourage you to review those policies before providing information to them.

International Visitors

The Company is based in Pennsylvania, United States.
If you access the Site from outside the United States, information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other countries in which our service providers operate.
Those jurisdictions may have privacy laws different from the laws where you reside.
If we intentionally offer services in a jurisdiction that imposes additional data-protection requirements on us, we will comply with applicable requirements.
